Change chat notification settings in the Zoom app
New chat messages may be communicated to you at a time that is convenient for you. When you’re in a meeting, you can set Do Not Disturb times and choose not to receive notifications during those times. The option to mute a specific group chat or channel also allows you to stop receiving chat notifications for that group chat or channel in the future.

Change chat notification settings for all chats
- Sign in to the Zoom desktop client on your computer.
- To change the settings, click the Settings button.
- Select the Chat tab on the left side of the screen.
The chat notification settings are displayed on the left side of the screen.
Change chat notification settings for a channel or group chat
- Sign in to your Zoom client and sign in.
- Click the Chat tab to open the chat window.
- To access the channel or group chat name, click the down arrow next to it.
You can also click the information icon next to a channel or group chat name if you want more information. - On the Notifications page, click the Notifications button.
In the channel or chat group settings, you can make the following changes:
- Show badges for unread messages: Next to the name of the channel or chat group, you’ll see the number of unread messages.
- Push notifications: Choose whether you want to receive push notifications for the following:

- All Messages: All messages in this group will be transferred to your phone as soon as they are posted.
- Direct messages, mentions only: If you’re tagged with an @all mention or a chat mention, you’ll receive a push notification when you’re tagged with one of those mentions.
- Nothing: No push notifications will be sent to you.
- Mute Channel/Mute Chat: You should remove any push notifications in addition to the red icons that are next to channel or group chat names in your dock/system tray, chat tab, and Zoom app.
