Converting a Poly phone to a Zoom Phone Appliance
Poly CCX Series phone users can use their assigned phones as Zoom Phone appliances by converting the phones to Zoom Phone appliances.
The Poly CCX desk phone conversion process differs based on current status and usage. See the following section for more information.
Note: Use the simplified process to convert an existing Poly CCX 600/700 to a Zoom Phone appliance if it has already been deployed to Zoom Phone.

- Ownership or administrative privileges for an account
- Supported Poly Zoom Phone appliances
- After version 5.6.6 Zoom Phone Appliance will be available.
Converting a new phone (never turned on or registered)
- Visit the Zoom web portal and log in.
- Click Device Management on the navigation menu, and then click Device List on the Device Management menu.
- Click the ellipsis (…) button in the upper-right corner, then click Add Zoom Phone Appliance in the pop-up window that appears.

The firmware of the device is updated. You may have to restart several times during this process. Proceed once the update is complete and the reboots have ended. - After turning on the device, go through the start menu:
- Set the new admin password and confirm it
- Accept the EULA
- Select your language
- Select the time zone
- Select the basic profile as Zoom Phone
- Click Yes to continue
- The Zoom Phone Appliance will automatically sign you in after the phone restarts if you haven’t already.
Upgrading a phone that was used with a different service provider
The following steps will guide you through the process of moving your phone from another service provider to the Zoom Phone Appliance.
- You can access the Zoom web portal by logging in.
- You can access the device list by clicking Device Management in the navigation menu.
- You can then click Add Zoom Phone Appliance by clicking the ellipsis (…) in the top right corner.
- The Zoom Phone Appliance can be added as follows.
- Go to Settings > Advanced > Administrator settings > Reset to defaults > Reset to factory settings to factory reset the phone.
A firmware update is being performed on the device. Multiple reboots may be required during this process. Before proceeding, wait for the update to complete and the reboot to finish. - After turning on the device, go through the start menu:
- Set the new admin password and confirm it
- Accept the EULA
- Select your language
- Select the time zone
- Select the basic profile as Zoom Phone
- Click Yes to continue
- After the phone restarts, sign in to the Zoom Phone Appliance if you haven’t already.
Converting a phone that has been used with Microsoft Teams
The phone can be converted to a Zoom Phone Appliance if currently used with Microsoft Teams.
- Microsoft Teams should be configured without the phone configuration.
- You can access the Zoom web portal by logging in.
- Select Device Management from the navigation menu and then Device List.
- You can then add a Zoom Phone Appliance by clicking the ellipses (…) in the top right corner.
- Add a Zoom Phone appliance by following the steps below.
- You can factory reset your phone by going to Settings > Advanced > Administrator Settings > Reset to Defaults > Factory Reset.

Converting an already used phone with Zoom Phone
Please follow these steps if you are looking to convert an existing phone into a Zoom Phone Appliance. If the phone is currently in use and assigned to a user or a common area phone, follow these steps.
- To access the Zoom web portal, you must log in.
- Click Phone System Management in the navigation menu, and then click Phones and Devices on the left side of the screen.
- Copy the MAC address and IP address of the phone you are converting by clicking on the friendly name of the phone you are converting.
- The phone can be removed from Zoom Phone by clicking the Remove button.
If you do this, your telephone service will be interrupted. - Click Device Management on the navigation menu, and then click Device List on the Device Management menu.
- To add Zoom Phone appliances to the list, click the ellipsis button (…) in the upper-right corner of the window.
- Adding a Zoom Phone Appliance is as easy as following the steps below.
- You can reset your phone to factory settings in Settings > Advanced > Administrator settings > Reset to defaults > Reset to factory settings.
There will be an update of the firmware of the device. It may take 10 minutes and multiple reboots to complete this process. Proceed once the update is complete and the reboots have stopped. - After turning on the device, go through the start menu:
- Set the new admin password and confirm it
- Accept the EULA
- Select your language
- Select the time zone
- Select the basic profile as Zoom Phone
- Click Yes to continue
- After the phone restarts, sign in to the Zoom Phone Appliance if you haven’t already.
Convert back to Zoom SIP mode
Follow these steps if you want to convert your phone back to Zoom Phone registered SIP mode when it is currently in Zoom Phone Appliance mode.
- Log in to the Zoom web portal by entering your username and password.
- The device list can be accessed by clicking Device Management in the navigation menu.
- In the right column, click the ellipsis (…) and then click Remove from zoom.
Note: - Zoom Phone appliances do not need to sign out if the user is signed in when removed from device management.
- Provision the phone for Zoom Phone by following the steps below.
- Make sure the device is deregistered.
- The settings gear icon can be found by tapping the phone’s screen.
- Then tap Advanced followed by General and then System Settings.
- The password for the local administrator must be entered.
- Factory reset by tapping Management Settings, then Factory reset by tapping Factory reset.
Note: - Multiple reboots can take up to 10 minutes for the firmware to update. Make sure the reboots have stopped before proceeding once the updates are complete.
Once the phone reboots, the user will be assigned to it.
