Create or edit synced contacts in the Zoom app
If you’re using Zoom Phone with contacts integration set up, you can automatically create synced contact lists based on your call history and voicemail if you have a license for Zoom Phone. If you want to add a phone number to an existing sync, you can do so by editing the sync.
To enjoy the convenience of viewing, calling, and messaging from the Zoom desktop client, you need to sync your contacts with your third-party contact service (e.g. Google, Outlook, etc.) for easy access. displayed and accessed from the Zoom desktop client.
Requirements for creating or editing synced contacts
- To use Zoom Phone you need a license

- Ensure that the Contacts integration is set up with write permission enabled for each contact in the system

How to create a new synced contact
To sync your contacts, you can use either your voicemail or call history to create the contacts.
- Open the Zoom desktop client on your computer and sign in.
- You can access the Phone tab by clicking on it.
- You can access your voicemail by clicking on the Voicemail tab.
- If you hover over the voicemail entry, you will see an ellipsis button . Click this button and then click either New Google Contact or New Outlook Contact.
- Enter the following information:
- First name
- surname, surname
- Telephone number (preset from the voicemail entry of the call list)
- Phone Number Type (Home, Main, Work, Mobile)
Note: According to the third-party contact service, there are several types of numbers to choose from. - The new contact is added to the contact folder you selected.
Note: The ability to create contact folders is only available if you integrate your Outlook, Office 365, or Exchange account with your contact management system. You can edit contact folders in Outlook, Office 365, or Exchange accounts by logging into your account. Contact integration with Google can only be set up if you have already set up contact integration with Google.
- Click Create.
- Once synced, a new synced contact will be listed in the Cloud Contacts section of the Contacts tab.
- Contacts are organized under Cloud Contacts if you have configured contact integration with Outlook, Office 365, or Exchange and organized your contacts into folders. If you have organized your contacts into folders, they will appear organized by those folders.
How to edit an existing synced contact by adding a phone number
By adding a phone number to an existing sync file, you can edit an existing sync file.
Note: A third-party contact service like Google or Outlook allows you to edit other fields for a synced contact that has been synced.
- Launch the Zoom desktop client and sign in with your Zoom account.
- Select the Phone tab on the left side of the screen.
- You can find the Voicemail tab on the left side of the screen.
- When you hover over a phone message, click the ellipsis button, then click either Add to Google Contacts or Add to Outlook Contacts, depending on your device.
- Enter the following information:
- Find Outlook Contact / Find Google Contact: Select a contact from your existing list by typing the contact’s name in the search box and then selecting it from the results.
- You must enter the phone number (pre-filled from the voicemail entry in your call log)
- There are four types of phone numbers (home, main, work, mobile) that can be used.
Note: Different types of numbers are available depending on the third-party contact service.
- You can add a new item by clicking the Add button.
Synced contacts are updated with the phone number associated with the associated contact.
