Dashboard for Zoom Chat in the Zoom app

Note: Before Zoom Chat was called the Zoom IM Dashboard, it was known as the Zoom Chat Dashboard. See what was released on July 1st, 2021 in terms of user interface improvements.

In Zoom Chat, our group messaging product, account owners and admins can view statistics about their account usage. Metrics for sent messages can be viewed along with a breakdown of the types of messages you’ve sent, such as: B. files, images or animated GIFs. In addition, you can also view the total number of messages sent in the account.

How to access the Zoom Chat dashboard

  1. You can access the Zoom web portal by logging into your Zoom account.
  2. In the navigation pane, click the Dashboard link.
  3. Click on the Zoom Chat tab located at the top of your dashboard screen after you log in.
  4. Filtering or adjusting the data can be done using the following options:
    • To select a date range you can use the drop down menu and tabs at the top of the page.
    • To view metrics for a specific user only, you can use the search box at the top of the page.
    • To download the filtered data in the form of a CSV file, click the Export as CSV button.

Glossary of Metrics

You can use the list below to get a better understanding of the metrics available on the Zoom Chat dashboard by following the explanations.

Messages Sent: Messages sent overall, individually, and in channels/groups. It includes all types of messages including text, files, images, code snippets, GIFs, audio files, videos as well as GIPHY.

  • Total: Total messages have been sent.
  • 1:1: A message was sent in a 1-to-1 conversation (a message was sent directly to another Zoom user).
  • Channels and group chats are divided into the following categories: In a channel or group, messages are sent to other members of the channel.

Messages sent by type: The following table shows the types of messages that were sent (text, files, images, code snippets, GIPHYs, audio, and video).

  • Text: A text-only message sent to a recipient
  • Files: These sent files are either local files or files shared via file sharing integrations (Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive and Microsoft SharePoint), which is a combination of both types of files.
  • Images: I have sent images in the following formats: PNG, JPG and screenshots which are all format images
  • Code Snippet: Attached code snippets can be found here.
  • GIPHYs: GIF animations (Giphy) have been sent to you.
  • Audio: The following audio messages were sent:
  • Videos: The video files have been sent to you.

How to use general metrics

There is also an option to view the total number of messages sent in the account.

  1. Access the Zoom web portal by logging into your account.
  2. The dashboard can be accessed from the navigation pane by clicking the dashboard link.
  3. If you’re looking at the “Meetings” heading, click the drop-down arrow to the right of “Top 10 Users By” or “Usage By” and then select “Zoom Chat Messages Sent” from the drop-down menu.
