Getting started with Zoom on Echo Show
Echo Show 8 and Show 10 smart displays now support Zoom for Home. Any Zoom user can start a meeting by saying, “Alexa, join my meeting.” This feature is free and open to all Zoom users.
Requirements for using Zoom for Echo
- Supported devices:
- The first and second generation of the Echo Show 8
- The third generation of the Echo Show 10
Note: - The prerequisite is that the Amazon/Alexa account for these devices is created in the US (amazon.com) and the Alexa language is set to US English.

How to download the Alexa app on a mobile device
Here are the instructions to download and install the Alexa app. Create an account or sign in once the app is installed.
How to connect your calendar in the Alexa app
The Alexa app recommends connecting your calendar to easily join meetings. When you say “Alexa, start my Zoom meeting,” Alexa starts your Zoom meetings.
The calendar you want to use for Zoom meetings should be on your computer. These steps will walk you through connecting your calendar to Alexa:
- Launch the Alexa app.
- Tap More and then Settings.
- You can find Calendar & Email on the Calendar tab.
- Then tap Connect Account to connect your account to your provider.
- Link your calendar by following the on-screen instructions. If you want to link more than one calendar, repeat these steps.
Note: You can access your calendar with Alexa if you connect your calendar account. Alexa devices may be able to access content from your calendar.
You can also subscribe to calendars in Google Calendar through Alexa by default. If you don’t want to use calendars to attend meetings, turn them off.

How to sign in to Zoom on your Echo Show
Sign in with your Zoom account for the best Zoom for Home experience. Just ask Alexa to open the Zoom app and follow the instructions here to sign in.
How to use Zoom on Echo Show
There are three ways to join meetings on Echo Show:
- The meeting ID must be specified
- From your Alexa linked calendar
- You can access your Zoom calendar through your Zoom account
Join meetings without logging in
When you ask Alexa to join a meeting, you’ll be prompted to enter the meeting ID and passcode in the dialog box. Alexa uses this information to join the meeting. You can manually join the Zoom for Home app from the controller if, after trying, Alexa can’t determine the meeting ID and passcode and the Zoom for Home app won’t open for you.
Note: It is not possible to use alphanumeric meeting IDs.
Join meetings from your connected calendar via Alexa
By saying “Alexa, join my meeting,” you can use your calendar details to join upcoming Zoom meetings.
Join meetings from the calendar associated with your Zoom account
You can join an upcoming meeting if you’re signed in to the Zoom for Home app on your Echo Show 8. You can open the Zoom app by saying “Alexa, open the Zoom app.” The Zoom app shows upcoming meetings when you say “Alexa, open the Zoom app.”

The speaker’s name will be passed to the Zoom meeting even if you’re not signed in with Alexa, but your voice will be recognized by Alexa. Your Alexa account name will be passed to the Zoom meeting list if you’re not signed in to Zoom with a voice profile set up, or if Alexa can’t identify your voice.
How do I mute my audio during a meeting?
In the Zoom app or on your device, you can mute your microphone by pressing the microphone off button. Both audio and video are muted by the privacy button.

The Zoom app has a power button, privacy button, or privacy shutter that you can use to mute your video during a meeting.
