There are several Zoom breakout rooms that can be accessed by anyone with a Zoom account, so only those who log into their accounts and enable this feature can join these sessions for free, even if they don’t have Zoom account yet. There is only one catch here, and that is that in order to be able to create a breakout room on Zoom, you need to enable this setting before you can actually create one.

It is recommended that you find the Breakout room option under Settings > Meeting > Meeting (advanced) and make sure you enable it in this section.

  1. In the Settings > Meeting > In Meeting (Enhanced) section of Zoom.us you will find an option to enable breakout rooms.
  2. The breakout rooms can be created from the toolbar on the left side of the screen.
  3. This menu should be populated with breakout rooms.
  4. Here you will find a menu where you can manage breakout rooms.

Using the navigation menu on the left side of the screen, select Account Management and then Account Settings to access the Account Settings page. On the Meetings tab, click the Meetings button. It is possible to enable the breakout rooms by clicking on the toggle under the In Meeting (Advanced) tab. To confirm the change, you must click Activate in a confirmation dialog box, if it appears.

When setting up the meeting, you may want to prepare your attendees for breakout rooms in advance. Therefore, if you follow these steps to ensure an effective meeting, your meeting will be successful. There are some situations where you might find this useful if you already know how to arrange your participants and the way they need to be grouped can be very simple.
