How to use and preserve original audio in a meeting on the Zoom app

You can export the original sound from your microphone without having to use Zoom’s amplification and echo cancellation features to preserve the original sound. If you already have these features built into your microphone or sound system, you don’t need to worry about improving them further.

Once you have enabled the keep original audio feature in the Zoom desktop client, you can also enable the following features:

  • It is possible to optimize Zoom audio for the highest quality using the high fidelity music mode.
  • There are several algorithms Zoom uses to cancel echoes. By default, this feature is enabled.
  • By default, stereo audio is enabled to give you a better listening experience.

The feature to keep original audio in the client can be enabled in your meeting settings and turned on and off as needed once you have enabled it in the client.

As part of screen sharing, you may need to share audio in either mono or stereo. So please read our article on sharing computer audio with screen sharing.
