How to use the Trello chatbot in the Zoom app

You can now receive Zoom chat notifications when a card changes in a channel in Zoom using Zoom’s Trello chat integration. You can also get Chrome notifications when a map changes in Zoom. Zoom chat also gives you the ability to create cards or comment using a slash command.

  • You need a Zoom account to do this
  • An account on Trello is required
  • The Trello chatbot has been pre-approved for inclusion in the Zoom Marketplace
    Note: Please contact your Zoom administrator if your app has not been pre-approved.

How to install and configure

How to install from the Zoom Marketplace

  1. To access the Zoom Marketplace, you must log into and navigate to your Zoom account.
  2. Then search for Trello in the App Store and click on it.
    Note: Please contact your Zoom administrator if the app is not pre-approved for your account and you would like this app to be approved.
  3. If you need to grant specific permissions for the app, click Add, confirm and click Allow.
  4. There are a few steps that need to be completed by an admin of your Trello account before proceeding.

Note: The Trello chatbot is automatically installed for you in your Trello account client if your administrator has installed the chatbot.

Once installed, the app can be found in the APPS section of the Zoom Chat tab on the left pane of your screen.

How to configure and authorize the Trello chatbot

  1. You then need to navigate to your desired Zoom chat channel after installing the Trello chatbot from the Zoom App Marketplace.
  2. You can send the message by typing /tr connect and send.
  3. Your Trello account will be linked to your email address via a direct message you will receive. To connect your Trello account, click the Connect Trello Account button.
  4. Connect to Trello and select Allow in the Permissions box to confirm that you are happy with the app using the required permissions.
  5. You can now use the Trello chatbot on your account.

How to use the Trello chatbot

Here are some chat commands you can use:

  • Help: For a list of all slash commands that can be used with the Trello chatbot, type /tr help.
  • Link board: To link your board to this channel, you must type /tr link [boardURL] in the command line.
  • Default list: By typing /tr set-list you can select the default board to which commands in this channel will apply.
  • Card/Board Details: You can view the details of the card or board by typing /tr [boardOrCardURL].
  • Search: If you want to search for cards that match your search terms, you can type /tr search [searchContent] into the search field.
  • Add card: You can add a card to the channel’s default board by typing /tr add [cardName].
  • Comment: If you want to leave a comment on the last card in the channel, type /tr comment [commentContent].
  • Unlink a channel: You can unlink a Trello channel by using the /tr unlink command to remove it from the board.
  • Disconnect account: To disconnect and deauthorize your Trello account associated with your Trello account, type /tr disconnect

How to uninstall the Trello chatbot

  1. You can access the Zoom Marketplace by logging into your Zoom account and navigating to the Marketplace page.
  2. If you’re looking for Trello, search for it and click on it.
  3. Next to Trello, click the Remove button.
  4. Click the Remove button after confirming the dialog box.

  • The Zoom app has access to the following information about Zoom:
    • You can view all of a Zoom user’s information under your Zoom account by clicking on the Zoom user’s name
  • There are the following permissions this chat app has on Zoom:
    • A chat message can be sent to an IM channel or Zoom user under the Zoom account through this chat app by selecting the IM channel or Zoom user.
  • The communication between this chat app and Zoom/Trello is encrypted by the following method:

    • Key length: 128 bits

  • The access data for this chat app are stored in the local data storage of the chat app
