Join a meeting in front of the host in a Zoom Room
A Zoom Room can join a meeting scheduled by a user and invited to the same account from the same account without the host having to start the meeting from the desktop client or mobile app. The Zoom Room host now has full control of the Zoom Room.
Requirements to participate as a Zoom Room host
- Zoom Rooms for conference rooms
- PC: 4.3.0 (390.0130) or higher
- macOS: 4.3.0 (446.0130) or higher
- Zoom Rooms Controller
- Android: 4.3.6 (40253.0127) or higher
- iOS: 4.3.6 (220.0125) or higher
- A role in the web portal with Zoom Rooms permissions (to enable Zoom Rooms in the portal)
Note: In the event that a device running an older version of Zoom Rooms joins the meeting before the host and is on the same account as the host, it will automatically take host control of that meeting.
How to enable joining as a Zoom Rooms host
By default, Zoom Rooms is set to play the role of host when joining the meeting before the meeting host. This setting can be either disabled or re-enabled for all Zoom Rooms in your account, which can be done via the Zoom Rooms web portal if required. It is also possible to enable this setting to use the location hierarchy.
- To access the Zoom web portal, you must log in.
- Then under Room Management, click Zoom Rooms.
- Please click on the Account Settings link.
- You can find the meeting tab on the left side of the screen.
- To ensure Zoom Rooms is the host when joining before the meeting host, make sure the toggle is on.
- The switch should be enabled when disabled and once clicked it should be enabled in the following window.
