Keyboard shortcuts and hotkeys for the Zoom app

In the zoom settings, you can use keyboard shortcuts to navigate the screen instead of using the mouse to change the settings. As well as being available in this article, they can also be found in your Zoom desktop client settings under the keyboard shortcuts list.

Requirements for hotkeys and keyboard shortcuts

  • Zoom Desktop Client for Windows, macOS and Linux: Version 5.2.0 or higher
  • Mobile Zoom application for iOS (iPad) version 4.4.5 (55341.0715) or higher

Window

You can view and edit keyboard shortcuts in the keyboard shortcuts settings.

  1. Please log in to the Zoom desktop client.
  2. Then click on your profile picture and then on Settings.
  3. Then click Keyboard Shortcuts.

    It will show you a list of keyboard shortcuts.

Edit shortcuts

Click the shortcut to edit it, and then press the keyboard shortcut you want to use. If you want to edit each shortcut, you can do so.

There are some shortcuts that can be used by non-Zoom users, meaning they can be used as global shortcuts. All you have to do is check the box next to the shortcut if you want it to be available globally.

Available Shortcuts

Generally

  • F6: Navigate between zoom pop-up windows.
  • Ctrl+Alt+Shift: Move focus to Zoom’s meeting controls

Meet

  • PageUp: View the previous 25 video streams in gallery view
  • PageDown: View the next 25 video streams in gallery view
  • Old: Enable/disable the option “Always show meeting controls” in the general settings
  • Alt+F1: Switch to the active speaker view in the video conference
  • Alt+F2: Switch to gallery video view in the video conference
  • Alt+F4: Close current window
  • Alt+V: Start/stop video
  • Alt+A: Mute/unmute sound
  • Alt+M: Mute/unmute audio for everyone except host
    Note: Only for the meeting host
  • Alt+S: Start screen sharing window and stop screen sharing
    Note: Works only when the meeting control toolbar has focus
  • Alt+Shift+S: Start/stop new screen sharing
    Note: Works only when the meeting control toolbar has focus
  • Alt+T: Pause or resume screen sharing
    Note: Works only when the meeting control toolbar has focus
  • Alt+R: Start/stop local recording
  • Alt+C: Start/stop cloud recording
  • Alt+P: Pause or resume recording
  • Alt+N: Switch camera
  • Alt+F: Enter or exit full screen
  • Alt+H: Show/hide chat panel in meeting
  • Alt+U: Show/Hide Participants Panel
  • Alt+I: Open invitation window
  • Alt+Y: raise/lower hand
  • Alt+Shift+R: Get remote control
  • Alt+Shift+G: Stop remote control
  • Ctrl+2: Read active speaker’s name
  • Ctrl+Alt+Shift+H: Show/Hide floating meeting controls
  • Alt+Q: Prompt to end or leave the meeting.

Chat

  • Alt+Shift+T: Screenshot
  • Switch to portrait/landscape view: Alt+L
  • Ctrl+W: Close current chat session
  • Ctrl+Up: Go to the previous chat
  • Ctrl+Down: Go to the next chat
  • Ctrl+T: Jump to chat with someone
  • Ctrl+F: Search
  • Ctrl+Tab: Switch to the next tab (right)
  • Ctrl+Shift+Tab: Switch to previous tab (left)

Note: Editing chat messages can also be done with additional keyboard shortcuts.

phone

  • Ctrl+Shift+P: Call marked phone number.
  • Ctrl+Shift+A: Answer incoming call.
  • Ctrl+Shift+E: End current call.
  • Ctrl+Shift+D: Reject incoming call.
  • Ctrl+Shift+M: Mute/Unmute microphone.
  • Ctrl+Shift+H: Hold/Hold call.

macOS

You can view and edit the keyboard shortcuts you’ve set up in your accessibility settings.

  1. Join the Zoom desktop client by logging into the Zoom web interface.
  2. You will find your profile picture and the Settings option under your profile picture.
  3. Tap Keyboard Shortcuts.

    A list of keyboard shortcuts will appear.

Edit shortcuts

Click the shortcut to edit it, and then press the keyboard shortcut you want to use. If you want to edit each shortcut, you can do so.

  • Command (⌘) + J: Schedule a meeting

  • Command (⌘) + Shift + A: Mute/unmute sound
  • Command (⌘) + Ctrl + M: Mute audio for everyone but the host (only available for the host)
  • Cmd(⌘)+Ctrl+U: Turn on sound for everyone except the host (only available for the host)
  • Spacebar: push to talk
  • Command(⌘)+Shift+V: Start/stop video
  • Command (⌘) + Shift + N: Switch camera
  • Command(⌘)+Shift+S: Start/stop screen sharing

Your accessibility settings allow you to see all the keyboard shortcuts that are available to you.

  1. Click here to log in to the Zoom desktop client.
  2. Below your profile picture you can see all your settings.
  3. You can find them under Accessibility.

The following shortcuts are available in the Zoom meeting if you have an iPad with a keyboard:

  • Command + Shift + A: Mute/Unmute my audio

  • Command + Shift + H: Show/hide chat
  • Command + Shift + M: Minimize the meeting
  • Command + U: View/Manage Participants
  • Command + W: Close the frontend windows, e.g. B. the meeting settings window or the window for viewing the participants
