Live streaming of Zoom meetings/webinars on YouTube

A Zoom Meeting or Zoom Webinar live stream is available on YouTube. YouTube allows attendees to view and comment on your meeting via Zoom. Zoom Meetings or Zoom Webinars will be delayed by approximately 20 seconds during the live event.

Note:

The YouTube viewer cannot directly interact with webinar participants, nor can webinar participants directly interact with viewers on YouTube.

Requirements for live streaming meetings or webinars on YouTube

Streaming for Zoom meeting

  • Accounts for professionals, businesses, schools and businesses
  • There is a license for the host
  • There are two desktop clients for Zoom:
    • Version 4.4.53582 or later is required for Windows
    • A macOS version of 4.4.53582 or higher is required
  • Client for Zoom on mobile devices
    • A version of Android 5.4.0 or later is required
    • The iOS version must be 5.4.0 or higher
  • Live streaming is available on YouTube

Streaming for Zoom webinars

  • A corporate, business, or educational account
  • A Zoom Webinars license is assigned to the host
  • The Zoom desktop client is as follows:
    • Version 4.0 or higher of Windows
    • Version 4.0 or later of macOS
  • Mobile Zoom client
    • Android requires version 5.4.0 or higher
    • iOS requires version 5.4.0 or later
  • Live streaming is available on YouTube

How to enable or disable YouTube live streaming for meetings

Account

Enable live streaming for everyone on YouTube by following these steps:

  1. You must be an admin with permission to edit account settings to access the Zoom web portal.
  2. You can access Account Settings by clicking Account Management in the navigation menu.
  3. On the Meetings tab, click the button.
  4. You can enable live streaming of meetings by clicking the Allow meetings live streaming toggle under In Meeting (Advanced).
  5. Click Activate to verify the change when a confirmation dialog box appears.
  6. Make sure YouTube is enabled.
  7. Save your changes.
  8. Click the lock icon if you want to make this setting mandatory for all users in your account. In this case, click Lock to confirm the setting and click the lock icon again to confirm.

group

Allow a group of users to live stream meetings on YouTube:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an administrator with access to edit groups.
  2. Select User Management and then Groups from the navigation menu.
  3. Click the appropriate group name in the list.
  4. Switch to the Meetings tab.
  5. Enable live streaming of meetings under In Meeting (advanced).
  6. Verify the change by clicking Enable Verification.
    Note:
  7. The grayed out options are the ones that have been built into the account at the account level and need to be changed at that level as well.
  8. Make sure YouTube is checked as a check box.
  9. After saving, click OK.
  10. Please click on the lock icon if you want to make this setting binding for all users in this group. Then click Lock to confirm this setting and make this setting permanent for all users in this group.

Follow these steps to live stream meetings on YouTube:

  1. Access the Zoom web portal by logging in.
  2. The settings menu is at the top of the page.
  3. Switch to the Meetings tab.
  4. You can enable live streaming of meetings under In Meeting (advanced).
  5. Confirm the change by clicking Activate Confirm Change.
  6. Make sure YouTube is enabled.
  7. Save your changes.
    Note:
  8. Grayed out options have been locked at the account or group level and your Zoom admin needs to change them.

How to enable YouTube live streaming for webinars

Account

In order for all users within the account to be able to live stream webinars on YouTube, the following steps must be performed:

  1. Admins can edit account settings through the Zoom web portal.
  2. You can change your account settings by clicking Account Management in the navigation menu.
  3. Switch to the Meetings tab.
  4. Enable live webinar streaming under In Meeting (Enhanced).
  5. You will be prompted to confirm the change. Click Activate and verify the change when the dialog box appears.
  6. Check the YouTube box.
  7. Save the file.
  8. The lock icon can be clicked and the lock button clicked to make this setting mandatory for all users in your account (optional).

group

Users can live stream webinars on YouTube by enabling:

  1. Access Zoom’s web portal as an administrator with group editing rights.
  2. You can access groups by clicking User Management in the navigation menu.
  3. Click the appropriate group name in the list.
  4. Switch to the Meetings tab.
  5. Enable live webinar streaming under In Meeting (Enhanced).
  6. Confirm the change by clicking Activate Confirm Change when a confirmation dialog box appears.
    Note:
  7. Changing a grayed out option must be changed at the account level.
  8. Check the YouTube box.
  9. Save the file.
  10. You can make this setting binding for all members of this group by clicking on the lock symbol.

You can stream webinars on YouTube for your own use by enabling the following option:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal by entering your email address and password.
  2. Select Settings from the navigation menu on the left side of the screen.
  3. Go to the Meetings tab and click on it.
  4. It can be enabled by clicking the “Allow live streaming of webinars” switch on the “Meetings (Advanced)” tab.
  5. It is recommended that you click Activate to confirm the change when the confirmation dialog box appears.
  6. If YouTube is enabled, click the checkbox next to it.
  7. To save the changes, click the Save button.
    Note:
  8. The option will be greyed out if the account or group has been suspended and to change it you will need to contact your account or group Zoom admin.

How to start a live stream on YouTube

window | macOS

Stream a meeting or webinar live from your desktop

  • Hosting a webinar or meeting is the first step.
  • Click More at the bottom of your screen to access your meeting or webinar controls.
  • On YouTube, click Live.
  • If you have multiple YouTube channels, sign in and choose one to stream.
    After successful authentication you will see the following page:

  • Broadcasting to YouTube Live requires the following settings:
    • Zoom meeting/webinar title on YouTube
      Topics for Zoom meetings and webinars are automatically populated. To change the text, navigate to the text field.
    • privacy
      The three options are Public, Unlisted, and Private.
  • Go live by clicking the button! Button.
    Streaming will be prepared for your session and a progress bar will appear.
  • You should wait for the Zoom client to notify you that your meeting or webinar has gone live on YouTube before beginning it.

The meeting/webinar controls allow you to stop streaming by clicking More and then Stop Live Stream or End Meeting/Webinar.

Live stream a meeting or webinar to a YouTube event

  • Stream your meeting or webinar with custom live streaming.
  • Meetings and webinars can be scheduled.
  • To configure live streaming settings, scroll down to the Live streaming section and click Configure live stream settings.
  • Sign in to your YouTube account in a new browser tab.
  • From the Make Video menu, select Go Live.

  • You can choose to live stream now or later when asked if you want to start right away.
  • In the Streaming software section, select Go as the stream type.
  • You can schedule a stream by clicking the button in the top right corner.
  • You can reuse settings from a previous event if you already have one scheduled. Select Create new if you don’t have one yet.
  • Describe the title, category, date/time, any age restrictions, and privacy settings.
  • Create a stream by clicking Create.
  • Paste the Server URL and Stream Key into the Stream URL and Stream Key on Zoom by copying and pasting them from the Stream Settings section.

  • To access the video link, click the share arrow. This URL should be copied and pasted into Zoom’s live streaming page.

  • On Zoom’s page, click Save.

  • Start hosting your Zoom conference or webinar when you’re ready to start the event.
  • To access more meeting controls, click More.
  • Custom Live Streaming Service should be clicked.

  • In the YouTube stream event, click Go Live after Zoom starts the live stream.

    Android | iOS

    Stream a meeting or webinar live from your mobile device

    1. Be the host of the meeting or webinar.
    2. To access more meeting/webinar options, tap More.
    3. The YouTube icon will appear.
      The YouTube login page will appear once you click on it.
    4. You can stream to multiple YouTube channels (if any).
    5. On the Broadcasting to YouTube Live page, after successful authentication, you can specify the following settings:
      • YouTube title for Zoom Meeting
        The Zoom Webinars topic will be filled in automatically. Change the text field by navigating to it.
      • privacy
        Public, Unlisted or Private are the options you have.
    6. Go live! by clicking the button. Button.
      You’ll see a progress bar as your session prepares for streaming. You will then see the live stream.
    7. Continue your meeting or webinar by returning to the Zoom app.
    8. There are two ways to stop streaming: either stop streaming the webinar or meeting by tapping Stop Live Stream again, or click the LIVE notification in the top-right corner of the meeting or webinar window and then tap Stop Live Stream again.
