Screen and power saving mode with Zoom Rooms
On both Mac and PC, Zoom Rooms offers digital signage options as well as an uptime setting. Therefore, Zoom Rooms should not be used on any computer that is in sleep or screen saver mode.

Disable screen saver:
- The first step is to open the Control Panel
- You can find the indicator icon by double-clicking on it
- Click the Screensaver tab on the left side of the screen
- For Screen Saver Option, select (None) as the option to use.

Planned restart:
- You can find Task Scheduler in the Windows Start menu by typing taskschd.msc in Start Search and clicking Enter to open it.
- You can create a simple task by clicking the Create Simple Task button in the right pane.
- Click the Next button once you’ve chosen a name for it and added a description if you’d like.
- You can choose Weekly as the start date for the task when asked when you want it to start. Please click the Next button to continue.
- The start time and date should be selected. (For example on a Sunday between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.)
- Once you click Next, you will be taken to the Actions page where you can take action. You can start the program by selecting Start program.
- There is an option to place “shutdown” under “Program/Script:” and you have the choice to add shutdown /r or shutdown /g to the options you choose. Enter 60 instead of 0 in this field if you want the shutdown to begin after 60 seconds, for example.
- When you are finished verifying all the information, click Finish to complete the process. Your computer will shut down on the day and time you specify.
macOS
Disable screen saver:
- Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner of the screen, and then select System Preferences from the drop-down menu
- You can then select the “Screensaver” tab once you click on the “Desktop & Screensaver” panel
- Make sure no screensaver is selected
Deactivate energy saving mode:
- On your desktop go to Spotlight search in the top right corner and you will find a list of searches
- You can find it under “Energy saving”
- Make sure computers and displays are set to never go to sleep
- Make sure Power Nap is not selected in Power Nap settings
Planned restart:
As a second recommendation, we recommend that you restart your Mac Mini regularly (e.g. bi-weekly, monthly) as a preventive measure.
