Using the web-based Zoom Rooms controller

With the Zoom Rooms web-based controller, a Zoom Rooms administrator, no matter where they are located, can remotely control Zoom Rooms and provide remote support, configuration, or even troubleshooting for Zoom Rooms from anywhere in the world. For example, the web-based controller can be used for a variety of tasks, such as:

  • The purpose of this test is to test a new Zoom Room configuration
  • A problem has occurred in a Zoom Room that needs to be resolved
  • During a meeting or over the phone, help attendees fix a problem they’re having

  • Zoom Rooms can be used for conference rooms
    • If you are using Windows, you need version 5.3.0 or higher
    • MacOS version 5.3.0 or higher is required
    • 5.3.0 or later is required for appliances

Personal Zoom Rooms do not support the web-based Zoom Room Controller.

There are some limitations to the web-based controller that you should be aware of:

  • A web-based Zoom Rooms controller may not include the latest features. Controls and settings may differ from those on a physical controller.
  • As an additional Zoom Room Controller, the web-based controller serves as a web browser. Web-based controllers are not exact copies of existing controllers. You don’t see the meeting list on the web-based controller when a room attendee taps the physical controller.
  • It is possible to remotely access most in-meeting controls and settings when the Zoom Room is in a meeting. Meeting controls show their current status on the physical controllers. For example, muting a room’s microphone also shows up on the physical controllers.
  • While on a phone call, you can remotely access most Zoom Room controls using the web-based controller.
  • Zoom Rooms can only be controlled by a web-based controller.
